The country counts about 16 varieties of pear, all of which are very attractive in terms of taste, fragrance and textured, Packham´s Triumph is the leading varieties, representing two-thirds of the volume offered for export, followed by Beurre Bosc, red Sensation and Summer Bartlett. The earliest harvests start mid-January, and the season can be stretched into August thanks to the product´s excellent storage capability.
